Nominate a High School Graduate

It's graduation season and that means it's time to nominate a high school graduate for our annual salute! Any high school graduate you know is eligible to be included on nirmvkids.org.

Just send the following to nirmvdetroit at gmail.com with the subject line 2024 Inspiring Grads by Monday, July 1:

  • Photo, name and graduating school of the honoree
  • Graduate's new school and declared major and/or plans

Announcing the winners of our 2024 Poetry Contest!

We are very excited to announce the winners of our 2024 poetry contest celebrating our theme, Discovering More About History, Herstory and Cultural Heritage. Congratulations to Elizabeth Timmerman (first place), Given Mukelabai Kolomu (second place) and Anna J. Small Roseboro (third place).

Many thanks to all who entered, our Poetry Contest Chair Maureen McGerty, and especially our esteemed judge Kathleen Ripley Leo. She is a poet, novelist, professor of creative writing, memoirist, author of books of poems, a novel, and editor of teaching the art of creative writing.
